Shalonda, I like to use the PNF patterns with resistance as an efficient way to strengthen many muscle groups simultaneously. I like to use the PNF patterns with assist as a way to facilitate restoration of ROM (especially at the shoulder) by moving through more functionally representative arcs than anatomic planes of motion.
